Candidate Requirements:

All candidates must have a good understanding of oral and written English. Training Qualification to QQI Level 6 or equivalent is highly recommended. Candidates may attend the Vehicle Mounted Crane Instructor Course without having a training qualification and they will receive a Certificate on completion.

Certification and Accreditation:

Candidates who produce proof of their QQI level 6 Training Qualification within 6 months of successfully completing the Vehicle Mounted Crane Instructors Course will receive Vehicle Mounted Crane Instructors Card and Certificate for 5 years.

Resource Material:

Candidates who successfully complete all practical and theory assessments will be provided with all material required to deliver a Vehicle Mounted Crane Operator Training Course including PowerPoint, Course Notes, Health & Safety Legislation, Trainee Assessment Sheets and more.

Post Training Support:

We will provide post training support and advice. We encourage our participants to actively participate in Vehicle Mounted Crane Operator Training Courses that we ourselves run, to help them gain confidence and experience in delivering their own Vehicle Mounted Crane Operator Training and Instruction.

Candidates will complete the Vehicle Mounted Crane Training that they themselves will be delivering as Vehicle Mounted Crane Training Instructors.

• Responsibilities of the operator and the employer
• Vehicle Mounted Crane Categories
• Safe Operation of Vehicle Mounted Crane
• Identifying Risks and Hazards associated with Vehicle Mounted Crane including overloading & shock loading
• Pre & Post Use Inspections of Vehicle Mounted Crane
• Lifting Equipment Safety
• Pre & Post Use Inspections of Lifting Equipment
• Maintenance
• Theory and Practical Assessments

Candidates will be taught the dangers surrounding lifting equipment. Candidates will also be taught the importance of pre use checks and how to carry out pre use checks on lifting equipment. Candidates will be taught about lifting equipment selection, basic rigging practices, tension developed by angles of lifting equipment and effects of sling angles on rigging and hardware.

• Legislation in relation to lifting equipment
• Responsibilities of the operator and the employer
• Compliance of 6 monthly inspections
• Determining the centre of gravity of the load
• Basic rigging practices
• Tension developed by sling angles
• Hitch selection and appliances
• Effect of sling angles on rigging and hardware
